Warren Buffet news: Billionaire says investment tip will increase your value ’50 percent’ | Personal Finance | Finance

Mr Buffett is one of the world’s richest people with a net worth thought to be around $80 billion (£58.3 billion) last year. He is known as being one of the world’s most successful investors.

However, in an interview with Yahoo Finance’s Editor-in-Chief Andy Serwer, the business magnate once provided some unorthodox business advice.

Asked what advice he would give to people who want to succeed in business, Mr Buffett said taking the time to improve one’s communication skills would “increase their value at least 50 percent”.

Mr Buffett said: “By far the best investment you can make is in yourself.

“I tell those students that if they just learn to communicate better, both in writing and in person, they increase their value at least 50 percent.”

The multi-billionaire added: “You have to be able to get forth your ideas.”

He also advised people to take care of themselves, telling Mr Serwer: “You get exactly one mind and one body in this world, and you can’t start taking care of it when you’re 50.”

He has committed to giving away over 99 percent of his total fortune – the ‘bulk’ of which is set to go to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

In a statement regarding the decision, Mr Buffet said: “Measured in dollars, this commitment is large. In a comparative sense, though, many individuals give more to others every day.

“In contrast, my family and I will give up nothing we need or want by fulfilling this 99 percent pledge.”
