The payment can often prove an important lifeline for people who are prevented from getting to work, and unable to work from home.
The head of Test and Trace, Dido Harding, however, recently unveiled an issue when it comes to the payment made available to Britons.
Ms Harding highlighted thousands of people are currently not self-isolating because they cannot afford not to work – something which could have severe knock on effects in terms of the spread of COVID-19.
As a result, the Labour party has called for a reevaluation of the payment, calling for all Britons who do not have access to occupational sick pay to be eligible for the £500 Test and Trace support payment.
