A spokesperson for Washington’s Metropolitan police said officers responded at 12:12pm local time (16:12pm GMT) in reference to an intelligence bulletin. The man, reported to be from San Antonio, Texas, was arrested near the Vice President’s home with a rifle and ammunition in a nearby vehicle, reports suggest. He has been charged with carrying a rifle or shotgun outside of a business, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of unregistered ammunition and possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device. The Vice President and her husband do not live at the Naval Observatory, as it is undergoing renovations.
