Dana White has hinted Fight Island judges could be SACKED for their role in Alexander Volkanovski’s split decision victory over Max Holloway at UFC 251.
David Lethaby voted in favour of Holloway, giving him rounds one, two and five.
However, the two other judges, Mark Collett and Clemens Werner, scored those to Volkanovski and also gave him the last three rounds.
And speaking after the bout, White appeared to suggest Holloway should have won back his featherweight title.
“You can’t leave it to these guys. We’ve got some bad judging,” he said.
“I’m sure [Holloway] is devastated. Did anybody here score it for Volkanovski? Anybody? Nobody in the media?
“I don’t know. We’ll have to figure it out. Looks like we’ve got to tighten up our refs and judges here on Fight Island.”
The judges scored the fight 30–27, 28–29, 29–28 in Volkanovski’s favour on Saturday night in Abu Dhabi.
Holloway was strong through the first three rounds, before takedowns in the fourth and fifth rounds sealed it for the Australian.
Other sports stars certainly seemed to think Holloway was ‘robbed’.
On Twitter, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard said: “Max was definitely robbed of that one!”
While Cameron Jordan of the New Orleans Saints simply wrote: “ROBBED!”
